Artists such as Jan Toorop, Piet Mondrian, and many others, flocked to the seaside resort of Domburg towards the end of the 19th century, and were inspired by the unique Zeeland light. The Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum has adopted the artists' colony phenomenon as its theme.
